Penang: Sweet and Spicy Authentic Malaysian and Thai Cuisine

Made with more heart and passion than cutthroat business ambition, Penang Malaysian & Thai Cuisine has flourished thanks to the dedication and culinary intuition of its multi-generation family owners. Serving popular Southeast Asian favorites, extensive exotic options (fish head soup, anyone?), and plenty of house-made specialties, there’s something for everyone on the encyclopedic restaurant menu. Categorized by meat or fish type, rice or noodle base, as well as course size, it’s easy to get lost amid all the options, but careful communication among diners will ensure that everyone gets to sample a range of unique flavors.

Neuberger Museum of Art: A Lot of Culture in a Small Package

The Neuberger is a small museum on the SUNY Purchase campus with a very impressive permanent collection of 20th century art. Compact and masterfully curated, this 6000+ piece collection started in 1974 with a gift of 108 pieces of art from founding patron Roy R. Neuberger. The collection has come to run the gamut of modern art and includes a major display of African sculpture. In addition to the rotating exhibits of the museum’s own art, the Neuberger hosts travelling exhibitions of classic and contemporary works and historic photographs. The museum is inexpensive to visit, free for SUNY students, and makes a perfect complement to the nearby Donald Kendall sculpture garden.
