Ceramics a la Carte: Perfect For Your Children’s Art Party

Ceramics a la Carte is a "paint your own pottery" and custom ceramics studio is great for groups of kids or anyone looking to put a unique touch on a hand made gift. Birthday parties are hosted by the facility where all attendees can make their own unique piece of pottery to take home. During the summer they offer ice cream sundae specials for parties. It's also a great place for office team-building, a night out with the ladies, or bonding with your children over art. The art of pottery teaches patience and aesthetic appreciation to children, and it's also a whole lot of messy fun! Technique classes are taught to more advanced adults. It's recommended that you call ahead for seating, and for hours which do change by season. It's a small studio that's easy to miss, so keep your eye out for the big Marshall's next door. Bring the kids and have an artfully good time!

Spotlight on a Boston Neigbhorhood: The South End

One of Boston's loveliest historic neighborhoods, the South End boasts a housing stock comprised primarily of "bowfronts." These mid-19th century structures are five story row homes featuring rounded, bowed rooms in front, giving the buildings their distinctive character. Through the 1950s, the South End was a hot spot for jazz. Venues like the Pioneer Club and Tic-Toc played host to numerous jazz legends. Today, the historic neighborhood features a rich array of cultural amenities including Boston College, the Boston Ballet, the Boston Center for the Arts, and many studios and gallery spaces. The South End's also one of Boston's hottest restaurant districts, offering a variety of cuisines for all tastes. The neighborhood also features eleven public parks, each offering a bucolic respite amidst the bustle of Boston.
