A visit to the Evergreen Museum and Library takes you back in time to the Gilded Age, when Baltimore’s Garrett family was railroad royalty. The opulent 1878 Evergreen Mansion was their 48-room estate situated on 26 immaculately landscaped acres. A tour of the home-turned-museum lets you explore their collection of decorative arts, sculpture, rare books, manuscripts, and other treasures, which number over 50,000 items. The estate is also home to the Bakst Theater, hosting performances by internationally famous chamber music groups and soloists, as well as lectures, films, and other events. Admission to the museum is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for students and children. See website for tour schedules.
