4 Walls Employee Spotlight: Meet Chris Karnes

How long have you been with 4Walls?
Since February 2014. So just over a month.

What's a typical day like for you?
Busy and extremely exciting. I'm in the web services group, which is all things PPC, SEO, and web design. It can encompass anything from holding client meetings, drafting proposals, managing paid search campaigns or planning the UX strategy of a new website.

What's the best thing about your job?
Being able to impact the bottom line for our clients in measurable and creative ways. It's truly an art and a science and we're lucky to have a great amount of trust from our clients. That allows us to really think in a different way and use the talents and experiences of our team to do some amazing things.

What do you do in your spare time?
Usually playing some form of Cinderella-inspired imagination/dress-up game with my toddler daughters. It's cool though, I get to be the prince. Aside from that, my wife and I are usually trying to find child-friendly travel adventures to embark on a couple of times a year.

What is an interesting or little-known fact about you?
I spend way too much time at Home Depot even though I can barely hang a picture on the wall. It's embarrassing how bad I am at handyman-type things. Even painting walls. I suck at painting walls.

How long have you been with 4Walls?
Almost three months.

What’s a typical day like for you?
Lots of writing and editing. I write custom content for clients and edit content written by freelancers. I also try to come up with ways that we can improve our content.

What’s the best thing about your job?
Working for a company that's thriving and growing. I came from the newspaper industry, so this is a welcome change.

What do you do in your spare time?
My boyfriend and I bought a house in South Philly last year, and getting everything just so is a never-ending project. I also volunteer at PAWS and I'm always reading a few books.

What is an interesting or little-known fact about you?
I'm pretty obsessed with cooking shows, even though I really don't cook at all.

How long have you been with 4 Walls?
8 years.

What’s a typical day like for you?
Lots of email. I field all incoming requests from clients, assign them out, or take care of them myself. I also monitoring ongoing projects and check in with Greg and clients.

What’s the best thing about your job?
Happy clients after site launch.

What do you do in your spare time?
Read. Spend time with my crazy family.

What is an interesting or little-known fact about you?
I kind of wish I was Martha Stewart. Without the prison record.

What’s a typical day like for you?
I'm still learning the ropes, but so far, I've been editing blog entries and brainstorming exciting, new ideas and topics for online content.

What’s the best thing about your job?
The ability to be creative!

What do you do in your spare time?
I love to read, try new restaurants, and spend time with my family and friends.

What is an interesting or little-known fact about you?
I have a serious sweet tooth, and I love to bake. (But I'm a lousy cook!)

4 Walls Employee Spotlight: Meet Noel Houser

How long have you been with 4 Walls?
2 ½ years

What’s a typical day like for you?
A typical day involves reaching out to properties, posting content to their social media accounts and monitoring comments and posts. I give them ideas of what to post and how to keep their social media current and interesting. I also help train their staff on new social media. In the role of Client Services Manager, I’m here to field any questions and conduct training with the Client Service Team when needed. Lastly, I help out when needed by editing and creating listings for apartment communities in the ILS.

What’s the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is that I love my job! I enjoy teaching and providing clients with ideas for their social media sites, and helping them improve their SEO and fan bases. I also work with a great team of people, which makes coming to work that much more enjoyable. Working from home is also up there for me too. My husband is a Philadelphia Police Officer who has a crazy schedule, so it is nice to be able to see him when he is on night shift, rather than passing each other as I walk in the door and he’s walking out to go to work.

What do you do in your spare time?
All my friends know I’m a HUGE Phillies fan! I love going to games with my husband and even watching them on TV. I love shopping, spending time with my family and playing with my wonderful bulldog Brewzer! I also love playing softball. I grew up playing and even went to the Little League World Series in Portland, OR when I was 12. My team came in second place. But this summer I had to take a hiatus since we are expecting our first child Aug 21st! It's a very exciting time in my life right now!

How long have you been with 4 Walls?
I started with 4 Walls in February 2013.

What’s a typical day like for you?
I split my time between two tasks. Some weeks I'm working on editing posts, and other weeks I'm working to create original content for specific markets or just general posts. Either way, I spend most of my time writing!

What’s the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is that I get to write, all day long. It feels like I'm visiting all these different cities, reading and writing about things to do and popular restaurants, without the cost of traveling. There is always something new to write about and research.

What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy watching TV and movies as well as knitting and crocheting. It may seem like a hobby for people from another generation, but I love it.

What is an interesting or little-known fact about you?
I love baking and dream of opening a cupcake shop one day.

What’s a typical day like for you?
Monitoring blogs, Facebook and Twitter, posting content for clients, assisting clients by answering their support questions, calling clients to answer any questions regarding their service and giving them ideas on how to fully utilize it to their maximum benefit. 

What’s the best thing about your job?
My favorite part so far is when I post about a missing dog or cat on behalf of a client, and then shortly thereafter, I hear that the pet was reunited with its owner. It makes me happy that I could help! Also, not having to dress up is pretty awesome, since I work from home.

What do you do in your spare time?
I love to write and make funny videos in my spare time. I also spend time being social and going out to different restaurants. I'm a foodie!

What is an interesting or little-known fact about you?
I was a Production Assistant on the movie "Silver Linings Playbook," but unfortunately I did not get to talk to Robert DeNiro.
