How Jeremy Lin Conquered the NBA: Lessons for All

Even if you don't follow basketball, you've probably heard of Jeremy Lin.

A non-scholarship point guard at Harvard, Lin made the Golden State Warriors as an undrafted free agent, but struggled in the shadow of more experienced players. After being sent down to the NBA's minor leagues, Lin battled back to a reserve spot on the New York Knicks. As the Knicks trailed the Celtics deep into the fourth quarter on February 3, Lin's coach finally gave him a chance.

His aggressive play won him a starting job, and in his first week as an everyday player Lin was unleashed, averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 assists and 2.0 steals. He carried the Knicks on his back for the rest of the season, helping his formerly moribund team to a 36-30 record. Even after a knee injury slowed him down, Lin ended up averaging 18.5 points and 7.6 assists per game. Now a free agent, he's a bona-fide NBA star thanks to hard work, perseverance, and the courage to be himself.

Whether you're shooting three-pointers or making business deals, Jeremy Lin's story is an example for us all. He stayed humble, earned the loyalty of his teammates, and didn't let a golden opportunity slip through his fingers.
