What’s a typical day like for you?
Prospecting for companies who might benefit from our services, demonstrating our products and discussing how we can help properties retain residents and generate leads from social media and Internet marketing.

What’s the best thing about your job?
I love talking to people and meeting new people every day. In addition, I love to work with my co-workers! They're all so helpful and supportive all the time.

What do you do in your spare time?
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time running my three daughters around to soccer, dance, lacrosse, chorus, etc. If there are ever a few minutes to spare, I go to the gym, go for a walk or read as much as I can!

What’s a typical day like for you?
My day-to-day work tends to vary – but my typical weekly schedule consists of writing blog posts, editing articles, curating topics for freelancers, and corresponding with 4 Walls clients about their blog content.

What’s the best thing about your job?
It’s such a blessing to be able to work from home while writing about a wide variety of interesting topics. 4 Walls takes such care to make sure their employees are happy – it’s been a really wonderful experience working for them. (More companies should take a look at their model!)

What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I love to practice (and teach) yoga, and always look forward to spending time with my husband and our adorable dog, Olive.

Lessons from Chairman Steve

One of these days, someone will compile Steve Jobs’ wisdom into a handy little book that can be carried everywhere. The world will be better for it. Until then, though, we bring you a few lessons from the Apple oracle himself. They’ve long been gospel for the tech-savvy, but they apply to every business, and all parts of life.

1. Be Brave

When Jobs was 12, he wanted to build a frequency counter. Demanding the best, he tracked down Bill Hewlett, founder of HP, to buy parts from him.

2. Trust Yourself

Jobs famously asked: “Did Alexander Graham Bell do market research before he invented the telephone?”

3. Looks Count

For Jobs, utility wasn’t enough. Apple products are an unparalleled marriage of form and function. They’re beautiful, and they speak to the user as they work. Jobs: “Design is not just what it looks like. Design is how it works.”

Apple’s chief  designer Jonathan Ive follows up: “Design can be theatre; it can tell a story.”

4. Don’t Waste Time

Jobs knew he was dying for the last several years of his life, time that coincided with Apple’s greatest triumphs. He said: “Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.”

5. Policy Is Who You Work With

Jobs: “My model for business is The Beatles. They were four guys that kept each other’s negative tendencies in check; they balanced each other. And the total was greater than the sum of the parts.”

What’s a typical day like for you?
I spend my days growing existing customer relationships and prospecting for new ones, showing clients the many benefits of our Respage social media product. In addition, I oversee the Sales Representatives to help them achieve their sales goals, lend support and help them work through challenges.

What’s the best thing about your job?
I really enjoy the relationships with my clients, especially providing them with products and services that help their businesses grow.

What do you do in your spare time?
Chase my kids like a chicken with its head cut off! They’re 1 ½, 4 and 6 years old. My husband and I enjoy our family’s exciting, action-packed adventures, but we also appreciate chilling out on weekends in front of a movie, while the kids play in the family room fort.

Why is Wikipedia Down Today?

Wikipedia, Reddit, Boing Boing and other websites went ‘dark’ at midnight EST on Wednesday, January 18. The outage will last for 24 hours. The effort protests two bills currently before Congress: the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA), which aim to combat online intellectual property theft. While the sites condemn internet piracy, they feel that the bills, if passed, would unduly punish content providers and chill the flow of legitimate information worldwide. Opponents hope to encourage discussion and revision of the bills.

What’s a typical day like for you?
My job is evolving as we grow. I’m lucky enough to work with every one of our departments. It's my job to make sure our systems and communications are working and improving. For me, there's no such thing as a “typical day” — this suits me and my multi-tasking personality just fine.

What’s the best thing about your job?
The constant challenge. I enjoy working with our awesome staff to make us more efficient, meet our clients needs and keep up with our constant growth.

What do you do in your spare time?
I try to spend as much time with my family as possible. My son is two and my daughter is six – along with my husband, they keep me busy, entertained and happy!
