Holiday Safety Tips

The tinsel is up, your shopping is done, and you've got enough beer to deal with your aunt.

But there's more to a happy holiday season. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has a list of tips to ensure things stay safe and low-stress. Here are a few:

  • Choose a green, moist tree with needles that cling to the branch. Water it at least once daily.

  • Keep your tree at least three feet from heat sources. Try to keep candles out of the room entirely.

  • Check your lights. Are they approved for indoor/outdoor use, as appropriate? Is the wire insulation intact?

  • Turn off lights when you leave or go to sleep.

  • Don't burn wrapping paper in your fireplace, as it can 'flash' quickly.

Check out the full list here. Santa and your landlord thank you.
