Apartment Community Overview
Perino’s Luxury Apartments exude a quiet elegance, compatible with the splendid architecture of surrounding homes. The location is on the site of the former Perino’s Restaurant – a gathering place of the rich and famous for four decades – inHancock Park. The building features reflect the unique character of the surrounding neighborhood. The design hallmarks of the famed restaurant have been retained, the checkered flooring, original chandeliers and wall sconces, the historic sheetmetal awning, the distinctive porte-cochere to greet visitors at the new entrance and the re-lighting of the original Perino’s sign that once illuminated Wilshire Boulevard during Hollywood’s Golden Era.
Alexander Perino immigrated from Brusnengo, Italy and first opened Perino’s Restaurant in 1932 at 3927 Wilshire Blvd. Perino's Restaurant moved to 4101 Wilshire Blvd. in February of 1950. It was designed in the New Orleans style with a California influence by famed architect Paul Williams. Some called Perino's Restaurant the most beautiful and greatest restaurant in the world. In September 1954 Perino’s Restaurant was damaged by a major fire. After the fire, the restaurant reopened in February of 1955 with a new look and the 17th century chandeliers that adorn the grand lobby today. Perino sold the restaurant in 1969. Alexander Perino died in January of 1982. The restaurant stopped operating in 1985 and the building remained vacant for twenty years. Construction commenced on the Perino’s Luxury Apartments in July 2005.
The ambience that once flourished, the glamour, elegance and excitement is prevalent throughout the Perino’s Luxury Apartments. What Alexander Perino created in 1932, remains forever in time.
