The U.S. Department of Justice has filed an appeals court brief arguing that a jury was right to convict Frankie Maybee, 21, of Green Forest for violation of a federal hate crime law after he used a pickup to force a car from U.S. 412 near Alpena, injuring five Hispanic men.
